This week, in Food For Thought, we take time to pray for those in our nation affected by the raging hurricanes and fires that are devastating our country. Disasters like these leave people with so many questions. Many people untaught in the scripture would like to blame a God they say they don’t even believe in. Though there may be some uncertainties about the events of the times we live in, there are two things that we can be absolutely certain of – God is not responsible for any of it, and, He is the only hope through it! So we pray for God’s guidance, direction, provision and protection for all those in the paths of these storms. He is our shelter in the storm!
28 “LORD, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. 29 He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. 30 What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor! 31 Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. Psalm 107:28-31 (NLT)
11 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. 12 For you bless the godly, O LORD; you surround them with your shield of love. Psalm 5:11-12 (NLT)
3 But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NLT)
10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. John 10:10 (NLT)
1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. 3 For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. Psalm 91:1-3 (NLT)
2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. Psalm 18:2 (NLT)
