Often times, many believers consider the Sword of the Spirit, or God’s Word, as the last weapon in the Armor of God. But it is very curious why, after mentioning all these other weapons, that God follows up with instructions to pray! Prayer is another powerful weapon mentioned in verse 18 that we have at our disposal at any moment of any day that we can initiate to set the spiritual world ablaze! – and specifically praying in the Spirit which is prayer that is lead by the Holy Spirit reinforced with the power of the Holy Spirit! In the military, if a troop or squadron is faltering, what happens? Reinforcements are sent in. Consider the Holy Spirit your reinforcement! He is released into a battle to seal the deal! When we pray in the Spirit, we are praying out God’s perfect will into a situation. There is no better way of getting the mind of Christ in a matter! In no other realm or kingdom could you ever just freely talk to the leader or head of state. If you wanted to talk to the President of the United States, I’m sure you would run into many obstacles and objections if you tried calling him or walking into the oval office. Not so with our God! Access to Him is 24/7! No appointment needed, no security clearance needed, no permission needed! God is just a prayer away!
18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Ephesians 6:18 (NLT)
But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Jude 1:20 (NIV)
So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind. 1 Corinthians 14:15 (NIV)
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. Romans 8:26 (NIV)
