This is the time for resolutions. I prefer the term goals. It’s probably a fact that there are areas where we can all make some adjustments that will bring improvement. So Food For Thought leaves you this year with scriptures that can absolutely improve your new year beginning with Colossians 3:23-24: 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Since we were born again, our whole outlook should be different because now we are in His service. Our goal became to live like Jesus in all holiness and righteousness. Even if our service is requested by man, we should perform it as if it were for God. According to scripture, this can apply even to what we eat and drink which is usually a big part of new year’s resolutions. So the big question is not only what would Jesus do, but also does it bring glory to God? Remember, we are no longer our own but God’s!
22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. 23 Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. 24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. Ephesians 4:22-24 (NLT)
31 So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NLT)
19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NLT)
